The Salorn Breed was developed by ranchers who wanted an easily maintained beef breed with early calving ease, disease resistance, maternal instincts and great foraging characteristics.  Dr. Jan Bonsma, renowned Beef Cattle Scientist, specified the required breeding program to achieve such animals.
